I'm almost afraid to ask this question since it's a little like asking what
kind of car to buy, but here goes......

I would like some guidance in selecting a replacement audio system for my ageing
Heath AR1500.  Several people suggested the Sansui Z7000 but when I  went  to  a
local dealer (Musicraft) they made an excellent sales  pitch  for  the  Sherwood
S-6040 amp, S-6010 tuner, S-6020 preamp and the S-450  tape  deck.   This should
give an idea of what I'm looking for and what I want to spend (~$900).  Based on
the above data, does anyone have suggestions, comments about Sherwood VS  Sansui
(or any other models for that matter). I really don't want to look at any  audio
magazine reviews since I'd rather hear from those who have  actually  used  this
equipment themselves.   Thanks in advance!
