Since a supercharger is belt driven, they take engine power to run.
A supercharger works well at idle speeds, unlike a turbo. I turbo is
driven by exaust gases, using only wasted engine power, not usefull
engine power like a supercharger. (there was an article in one of
the car mags. this month, I forget which one. If there is enough
intrest, I'll post the which one.)
