R+D, Santa Monica Lines: 13 Xref: watmath net.auto:6502 net.flame:9444 Summary: Do those seat belt laws mandate wearing shoulder belts or just seat belts? I'm 4'10" and most shoulder belts cut across my throat. If one stopped me from crashing through a windshield, it would probably do so by crushing my larynx and killing me. (A Caddy owner let me read his owner's manual which advised that no one under 5' tall should wear the shoulder strap, but this warning doesn't appear in most cars' manuals.) I do wear my seat belt. I either disconnect a shoulder strap or slide it behind me. And suggest that anyone else under 5' tall (including most kids) do the same. --Lee Gold
