Seems that they were erroneously putting stainless steel exhaust valves (P/N 626540) instead of chrome-plated valves (P/N 637881) into the engines and cylinder assemblies, which have Nitralloy valve guides. The guides chewed up the valves, putting metal particles into the oil.
