The relation between "kludge" and "kluge" seems a bit dubious to me.
First, realize that "kluge" is properly "klug" with the "e" only an
adjective ending.  Second, the "g" in "klug" is a hard one (as in
"Kruggerand").  Since "kludge" was probably passed word of mouth
instead of in writing, the connection appears pretty fanciful to me.
