Any hints on manufacturers that might make hardware that fits the following criterion would be appreciated. M68000 based - I have the software and hardware development tools already and need this level of processing power (64kw data blocks). 8 or 10 Mhz is fine. 128 kw memory - More than 512k is overkill. ROM operating system - 32 to 64 kw. Motorola or homegrown or I'll make my own. Mostly my application with a minimum of development and debug support routines. No disks. A serial port - For debugging and intermittant monitoring. A buss or external I/O - I need to do some A to D for data input and parallel nibbles out. Can be a commercial buss or just dedicated ports. Some interrupt capability but no DMA, multi-user, or multi-tasking. Nice but not required: EPROM burning Second serial port for downloading. There are a lot of multibus boards out there but most run UNIX or some other non-real time O/S (no flames, please) and are complete overkill for my task and budget. I am in the data acquisition hardware design world and do not mind adapting around something but would like to avoid having to design the whole computer too. I have 10 68000's collecting data in another project already so I know what I am up against but they are really special purpose and not readily applicable to this problem. I am learning about EMS in Irvine, Ca. Anybody tried their hardware? Any others out there?. vince pavlicek dev. engr. marine physical lab. u.c. san diego (la jolla?) {ihnp4|decvax|akgua|dcdwest|ucbvax}!sdcsvax!mplvax!vince All the usual trademark and user-defined limitations or disclaimers apply to all the above words to which anything of that nature may apply.
