These are songs passed on from generation to generation by the hobo subculture. As I recall, the "I don't care" song was in the book, so I suspect it predates Imus's use of it. Can anyone else in the group confirm or deny this? By the way, I think there are a number of other verses to the song, including I don't care if it's dark and scary 'Long as I have magnetic Mary Ridin' on the dashboard of my car. -- Bill Ingogly
