However, as far as 1957 goes, I won't listen to much recorded before that date. Mostly, I just can't stand the recording quality. I have some Billy Holiday that sounds like it was recorded through a telephone. I realize that things improved between then and the 50's, but I consider Kind of Blue (one of my new favorites) to be technically so-so (I'm referring to the engineering, not the music). I'm not sure when it was recorded, but later Miles sounds so much better. I realize you were probably not intending to be taken literally about 1957, but do you really hate stuff like Miles Davis' Bitches Brew or In a Silent Way? -Josh "It wouldn't matter to a man with an open heart"
