Among the most wonderful pieces of music that I have ever listened to, my favorite piece (although very many others come extremely close) is Schubert's Quintet in C (no, not the Trout). Others include (but are not limited to): Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis (Vaughn Williams) the "Emperor" piano concerto (Beethoven) Violin Concerto (Ysaye) "American" string quartet (Dvorak) "Kreutzer" sonate (Beethoven) Rite Of Spring (Stravinsky) Scherezade (Rimsy-Korsakov) Violin Concerto (Sibelius) Missa Solemnis (Beethoven) Symphony Fantastique (Berlioz) Double Concerto in D minor (Bach) St. Matthew Passion (Bach) Ave Maria (Schubert) I can't think of any more offhand, but anyone who likes can start off with these.
