The Soviet Union is a close second, and the U.S. is a not-so-close third. These three countries are commonly considered the three greatest military powers in the world. Now the $64,000 question: What country is number four? The answer: Vietnam. Yes, that backwards, agrarian country has the fourth-largest army in the world, 1.2 million strong. The helpless, peaceful country which we ruthlessly overran fifteen years ago is now chasing the superpowers on the charts... Notice that three of these top four have something else in common.
