I used to use my Nikkor 35mm f2.0 as my standard lens but if I just take one it's now my 55mm 2.8 macro. A wonderfully designed lens, and the extra stop added a few years back makes it usuable for most applications. It's also available at a very reasonable price. For the record, I also have a 50 f 1.4 but it sits on a shelf most of the time. I haven't used it in quite some time, but I remember thinking it was an extremely sharp lens when I used to use it alot ten years ago. So I guess that also indicates the quality of the macro.
