Message-ID: <14@unc.UUCP> Date: Sat, 13-Apr-85 16:58:31 EST Article-I.D.: unc.14 Posted: Sat Apr 13 16:58:31 1985 Date-Received: Mon, 15-Apr-85 05:32:03 EST Organization: CS Dept., U. of N. Carolina at Chapel Hill Lines: 14 Women in this newsgroup have complained about the media's preference for skinny, WASPy models. They ask why "voluptuous" women are not considered attractive. Men replied that they do indeed prefer "voluptuous" women. So, what's the problem? The problem is: When men say they prefer voluptuous women, they mean they prefer Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield rather than Twiggy. Men interpret "voluptuous" to mean "having an hourglass figure." But women interpret "voluptuous" to mean "like the women Ruebens painted." This is what men call "fat." Frank Silbermann
