M. Collin's Spooler available Message-ID: <450@aicchi.UUCP> Date: Wed, 24-Apr-85 00:57:11 EST Article-I.D.: aicchi.450 Posted: Wed Apr 24 00:57:11 1985 Date-Received: Thu, 25-Apr-85 03:43:17 EST Distribution: net Organization: Analysts International Corp; Chicago Branch Lines: 20 Xref: watmath net.sources:2830 net.wanted.sources:751 Some time ago, John Collins posted a quite good spooler to the net. It featured such things as multiple spooler support, user billing, job prioritization, the ability to redirect/hold/cancel/reschedule jobs, printer pitch selection and initialization, full-screen maintenance and operator screens, etc., etc. As I finally got it--directly from John--it did have some deficiencies (for instance, couldn't handle 'dumb' printers that don't support backspace and tabs), and no way to create batch user reports; and a number of small bugs. I've fixed all of the mentioned deficiencies, and fixed all the bugs I found. I tried to contact John to 'sell' these changes back into his official version, but haven't had any response from him in several mailings; so I'll both ask him here to contact me, if he wants the changes and fixes; and I will honor requests from those who wish the package and updates. If I get an overwhelming response, maybe a reposting is in order. -- Dave Ihnat Analysts International Corporation (312) 882-4673 ihnp4!aicchi!ignatz
