The /backup/weeklies control file has been rebuilt appropriately, and various other minor changes (notably, renaming "monthly" to "bimonthly") have been made. Also, as a recognition of reality, the weekly tape sets will soon be relabelled to include the now- omnipresent "overflow" tapes as part of the basic tape sets. Finally, the custom of occasionally saving a full backup of the usr and root filesystems has been dropped -- we never used them, and they play no part in disaster recovery -- and the tapes freed up through occasional rotation of the A+B tape sets will now be used as replacements for the daily-backup tapes. There has been no systematic arrangement for replacement of the daily tapes until now, and some of them are pretty old. -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
