My understanding of the difference between the two is that
(1) superchargers are belt driven rather than exhaust driven, therefore
[here's the biggie] (2) you are able to run headers with a supercharger 
where you are not able to do so with a turbocharger. Other than that, the 
two systems accomplish the same thing. 
(please, if I am wrong about this, someone correct me)
