You are not alone. 
Worst thing about the whole deal is that even our local "Jazz"
radio stations are 90% pop-fusion-rock rubbish.  You can hear
Spyro Gyra any time of the day or night but early Miles is 
seldom heard (not of commercial interest I guess)

What about "Jeru" Mulligan, Dizzy, "West Coast" Jazz, Art and Art?  

I don't listen to anything recorded after 1957.
