As far as I am concerned if I catch a person in my house I would rather blow him away then run away and call the police to handle it since by the time they get there the criminal is long since gone. Do this and you might get sued by the criminal and/or his family for violation of his/her rights !!!!! The solution ? One is to move the hell out of the areas where the personal crime rate is high (i.e N.Y.C) and let the lowlifes rule. The other is everybody who can pass muster be allowed to obtain a carry permit for a gun. A scenario: You just left a whatever with your date or friend and on the way to your car you are confronted by four or five teenagers who proceed to rob you and hold you at bay while they rape your girlfriend. Then they proceed to scar her face with their kinves and stab you to death just to get a few kicks. Granted, these things don't happen too often, about 2 a month in N.Y, but they do happen. What ya gonna do ? The way things are now you just take it and hope for the best. If you were armed you might have a good chance of preventing such an occurance from turning ugly. One problem. You must have a need for a carry permit in most cities. personal protection just dose'nt qualify. However if you are a storeowner, or a businessman who carries large sums of money you can get a carry permit. Thus the conclusion to be drawn is that corporate profits weighs more than personal safety. A sad fact indeed.
