The most common, and quickest for me to use was to ^QA for a ^N and then just replace it with a null. It worked fast once I hit the escape key. (For those of you who are unaware, if you are doing a global replace, i.e., the gn option, if you hit the escape key, the screen doesn't show each line getting changed. It really speeds things up.) I also had several suggestions regarding two PD programs, ENSOFT and FIXTEX. Both are out at SIMTEL20. If I had to do this a lot (which I don't) then I would probably grab one or both of those pgms.
