I actually listen to new jazz -- why shouldn't I ?  I am only 22 years old,
and I want to hear music that is today's music.  I, too, can't stand
fusion, but I also beleive that jazz doesn't really mean a particular
sound.  Remember how Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Miles Davis were
ridiculed when they started out.

Actually, I am not yet an ``intense'' jazz fan.  My contemporary tastes
lean towards stuff like Material (and all the allied stuff), Jamaaladeen
Tacuma, Wynton Marsalis, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, and Ronald Shannon
Jackson.  I'm glad that Blue Note is back.
