I thought you LIKED my coffee!) It's amazing what I find every time I look through my record collection (I have over 2000 albums). The other day, in response to another article, I said I had recorded versions of the song "Black Coffee" sung by Julie London, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan. I thought I did, off the top of my head. Guess what? I don't have ANY of those! The version by Sarah Vaughan is on a record she did for Columbia in the 50's. It has a grey cover, but I forget the name. I don't seem to have this album. I know I've heard Billie sing it, but I don't have it on any of the eight VERVE albums and a few Commedore, Decca and Columbia albums of hers I have. I have ten Julie London albums, but it's not on any of them. I have Rosemary Clooney singing it on her Reprise album "Thanks for Nothing," recorded in the early 60s. It's been reissued in Japan, though it's hard to get here. I have Anita O'Day singing it on her album "Angel Eyes" recorded direct-to-disc in Tokyo in 1978 on Lobster Records. It has been reissued in the USA on Anita's EMILY records, under the same title. I also have Peggy Lee singing it on a double album simply entitled "The Best of Peggy Lee." I didn't check all my records, so I may have more versions of it. At any rate, to the person who originally was looking for more versions of this song, I hope this helps some.
