I mean, that's just what I wrote and the way I meant it. I stand behind every incomprehensible word of it, in fact. On a more serious note, I feed compressed news to 5 or 6 sites and have no problems. Same with reception. I'd say to check and make sure that no one has modified compress in any way. Additionally, make sure that anyone running it on a Vax didn't compile it with the -O option...as I remember, that caused flakey results at some sites. There is also a define you need to set if your machine treats unsigned characters as signed.
