Message-ID: <203@phri.UUCP> Date: Wed, 17-Apr-85 12:59:45 EST Article-I.D.: phri.203 Posted: Wed Apr 17 12:59:45 1985 Date-Received: Thu, 18-Apr-85 07:55:39 EST Distribution: net Organization: Public Health Research Inst. (NY, NY) Lines: 16 I called a distributor this morning to get a price on a NEC spinwriter and was told that they [shock, surprise, disbelief, amazement] are not being manufactured anymore!! These 7710/7720's are the best workhorse letter-quality printers I have ever seen (especially for those of us that do technical writing and appreciate the 128 character thimbles). Now I am told that I can't buy them anymore. I understand that they are being replaced by a 8800 series. Does anybody have any experience with these new ones? Are they code compatible? Do they take the same print thimbles (or have equivalent ones, particularly the tech/math)? Are they made with the same kind of built-like-a-tank construction as the 7700's. -- allegra!phri!roy (Roy Smith) System Administrator, Public Health Research Institute
