How comfortable this warmth feels before my eyes
Held between the lids and the lashes
Forming clinging pools of misery
That slowly drain

Flowing down the familiar path
Down the cheek to touch the corner
Of the mouth tastes of salt
Washed away by the rain

Mixed smells of damp woolen sweater
Wet leaves and grass
Night air and mist
Mingle in lifeless dull pain

Riding silent in the night
Walking with the shadow dog
Moving away from it all
Til it hurts less again
