Here's another question: Regarding cursive writing, what is the longest word that can be written without a looped letter above or below the line? An old copy of a Ripley's Believe It or Not claimed that there was a tie between "reconnaissance" and "commissionaire", both 14 letters, but I thought of a 15-letter one, in everyday use. Mike Gray
