In "Day of the Dove" we see that the transporter does work for 'non-corporeal' entities, which may include our "spirits". If the transporter has the same affect on the "spirit" as on the body, what are the implications of a malfunction? At any rate, I prefer to believe that the transporter has as much affect on one as an elevator has: when we get off on the 4th floor, are we the same as when we got in on the 1st floor?? (just kidding)
