The reason this works is If there is plenty of room in the right (one or more) lanes and the truck could pass you safely, doesn't that mean that you could safely move to the right (one or more) lanes and let the truck use the PASSING LANE. YES, THAT IS CORRECT!! THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING...NOT FOR JUST GOING FAST! I believe that it has been quite a number of years since California had designated speed lanes (I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong). In any case, since it's not illegal to pass in the right lane out here, the truck could do what you suggested. HOWEVER, if you would show the courtesy of moving to the right when not passing, chances are the truck would not be a tailgating "jerk" in the first place. jeff@wjvax
