I've owned an "old style" VW GTI for over two years, and I've loved it-
Good gas mileage, better than decent performance, great handling, etc.
The car has been dead reliable as well, never failing to start or run well.
I've also just driven the new GTI, and it seems even better, with more room,
nicer equipment, etc.  If it is as reliable as my GTI, I'd say "Go for it"
Alas, I can't afford to...
