I always thought it was standard procedure. Bicycles are not that difficult to see. (At least in daylight, nighttime is another matter.) If I (in a car) pass a bike, and shortly later have to stop for a light, I assume that the bike is probably going to repass me, and try to leave a little extra room. If I'm going to turn, I check to see where the bike is first. (yes, I know the typical egocentric bicycles-don't-exists type in the 'lectra 225s don't think this way. Watch out for 'em!)
