They are being sponsored by the Mobile Chess Club, South Alabama Chapter of the ACM, South Alabama Division of Computer Information Scicences, and the Sapple Computer Club. (This is completely unrelated to the yearly ACM sponsored North American Computer Chess Championships.) Mobile Alabama, June 21-23 Six round swiss, 2 rounds/day. 40 moves in 2 hrs, 20 in 1 hr thereafter. $50 entry fee. Open to all. Plaques to winners in 6 categories: 1. overall with title of US Champion 2. best new program. 3. biggest upset. 4. best super-computer/mainframe 5. best personal computer. 6. best dedicated chess computer.
