Found this in the "Feedback" section in _InfoSystems_ (April 1985, p. 6); it
looked like good flame fuel to me! 

   "...Most university-trained software experts who have never practiced
    any business skill are not what DP needs.  We have created an army
    of experts who have trouble speaking and writing english, busily 
    solving business problems with logic that completely ignores established 
    business practices.  It is surprising that users hate their systems?

    generation of eunuchs is debugging with tools that were primitive 15
    years ago.  Imagine tens of thousands of these over-paid quasi-profes-

I suppose many of us don't find our jobs are really described as "DP" except
on a very general level.  But anybody want to get huffy about "trouble speaking
and writing english" or "over-paid quasi-professional" or "main debugging tool
is the print statement"?  Since "eunuch" is usually defined as "a castrated
man", I guess some of us aren't in this backwards generation Peter Harris
describes?  It also seemed rather childish to include this worn and obvious pun
with such overtones of insult. 

Bet he wouldn't like the usenet, either.  (It doesn't follow established
business practices.)

But speaking of users hating systems, I'm *sure* no user would ever hate any
system written by any of us flamers, but, >ahem<, is there any Organization that
might help us out with any such truculent users?  (such as, attaching furniture
to them?)  :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)
