Just last week I ordered 2 double cheese burgers, fries and a drink (not too complicated) and while I don't object to the "Is that all?" or "Would you care for an Apple pie?" I do think it is unreasonable for it to take over 8 minutes when the FOOD IS ALREADY THERE (apparantly this server had difficulty reading the cash register display). I also really hate the slow service based on complete senselessness. Back at home we have a McD's where if you order 6 items, they make 7 trips to put the order together. Who is to blame? I'd say everyone. I've seen a bunch of really good managers, but they always seem to either leave themselves, or have such a high employee turnover rate, because nobody intelligent is willing to work there for long. At the same time, I've seen real as*holes of managers, who probably aren't even competent to run cashiers (internal promotion?:-) Yet, at other fast-food places, you can find good help (occasionally). I was in what I believe to be the only Purdue chicken restaurant, and was shocked when the server said "I hope you don't mind waiting, but the pieces that are here are not good enough to be served." Even at a McD's, I've seen the manager himself filling my order after he couldn't understand what was taking so long. One final gripe--why is it that these people have to fight over food. Too many times, after hearing the blaring "waiting on a Big Mac," I find that some other server is fighting with my own over who is entitled to the first one out. While I guess it is nice to believe that they are trying to be helpful, a little organization, and maybe some pink slips, could go a long way. By the way, is it true that over 90% of the McD's were established on 20 year franchises, reverting back to Ray Krok's estate (adding millions of millions more)? Mithrandir jak@talcott
