I take it you don't know how to play a trombone. First of all, for any one position of the slide, many notes can be played, ranging over a several octaves. So the slide does not necessarily "go OUT" for "LOWER" notes. In the process of playing a simple 8 note scale, the movement of the slide is reversed several times. Secondly, I know of left handed people that prefer to hold their trombones with their right hand. There is nothing wrong with this. The trombone can be assembled either way.
