Look, if 'Thou shalt not kill' is to be obeyed because it is from the Lord then the command to kill the people in the land is also something to be obeyed. The concept of Justice, as Hume so aptly pointed out demands a God who is big enough (absolute) to demand it and to carry it out. Indeed it demands an afterlife since 'Justice' is not done competely in the good old here and now. The point of the events recorded is that the people of the land God told them to kill deserved it IN GOD'S OPINION. He sent the Jews to carry out his sentence - all perfectly 'legal' and moral if God is really God and there IS Justice. Therefore it was NOT genocide. (Yea, I spelled it right this time) I'll wager you refuse to see the difference between someone 'killing' on his own and doing so as an agent of God. Don't bother to bring up the nonsense that some people have claimed to be doing the 'will of God' by killing. I agree with you. Except in the rare case of self defense and this case recorded in the bible. Some people insist on being ignorant. Do you? The REASON man is not to kill is EXACTLY BECAUSE he doesn't know if the person deserves it because that is a perogitive of a Just God. Comments? Regards, Ken Arndt
