One of the humor columnists related a story about how he and another writer went on a retreat to a cabin together. Unfortunately, he reported, they only had one typewriter. So they decided that one of them would use the keys on the left side of the keyboard, and the other would use the right side ! He then reported some cute jokes like "JIMMY" is on the right but "CARTER" is on the left, and "WEAPONS" are not allowed. Anyway, I was thinking it would be interesting to try to actually write entire paragraphs or even stories, using only one side of the typewriter. Anyone want to try it ? I bet NPR would air your story and give your name if you sent it in. (On Thursday evenings they read listener's letters) /Eric Osman
