Clif is correct that I have not signed non-disclosure and therefore have
no access to inside information.  I am grudgingly starting to suspect that
I may have flamed the 386 prematurely.  Not necessarily "unjustifiably"
or "incorrectly", mind you, just "prematurely".

Properly chastised and repentant (well, somewhat, sort of), I shall refrain
from further flames against the 386 until I have more information.  Then I
will either be (a) surprised and delighted because Intel has actually built
a decent cpu, or (b) confirmed in my nasty prejudices once again.  From the
information I *have* heard, I strongly suspect (b)... but we'll see.

A friend of mine characterized the Mac's software as "RT-11 with windows".
Blah.  What a waste.

Segmentation is probably a Good Thing, although it is relatively unpopular
these days, but not making the segments big enough is a disastrous mistake
that more than cancels its good points.
