As far as I know the current version (2.1A) of Kermit
for the Apple is buggy.  It does not do 8 bit quoting 
correctly and characters are lost (& signs). It does however works
when 8 bit quoting mode is off.  (for text files, I did not try 
Binary files.)   There is a fix, but I don't know when the next 
release will be.  (I have it, but you need the source and cross.exe
to use it.)
