Carolina at Chapel Hill Lines: 10 Despite the previous flame (re: the Mac's beep upon startup), the IBM PC does indeed beep upon startup (CNTRL-ALT-DEL reboot or power-up boot), as an indication from the BIOS ROM startup routines that all is well, or that all may not be well.
