As someone who counted pennies to put myself through a state school I feel qualified by experience to state that the above is bunk. For some students, yes, the extra cost will be OK. For others it will be the difference between going to that school or not. For some who cannot travel it can be going vs. not going at all. The logical extention of this is that if I can afford a condo, then I can afford a house; if I can afford a Honda, I can afford a Mercedes ... One small thing, though.
