There were two bars that were semi active especially during the summer months. During the summer, Newport does come alive with the tourists and the crowd does have quite a few members whose IQ's are higher than the average of 50 which is found elsewhere in the state. Beside the bars, there are other crusing areas such as Banaster's Wharf, First Beach, among others. I would say that Newport is quite a bit more intellegent and intellectual than Providence.
