Well, now, Earth Shoes were based on a fairly misinformed design principle, though, you'll have to admit (that because people's footprints in sand have the heel deeper than the rest, that that's the way shoes should be made to be "natural". I mean, this would only be true if people evolved (or were created, or created evolutionarily, or whatever) such that their walking was optimized for walking on sand. Since much of the earth is not made of sand, I think the basic premise there was wrong.). Of course this doesn't answer your question, and one that has long puzzled me, as to why women would go back to wearing items of clothing that are painful and injurious, in the name of fashion, having been given the opportunity to choose something more reasonable.
