I did some research on this a couple of years ago when friends were visiting, and found the King George Hotel (344 Mason, SF, CA 94102 (415) 781-5050). It's right in the shopping/theatre district and about a 15-minute walk from Moscone. It's small, clean, comfortable, friendly and (relatively) inexpensive ($40 two years ago) - my friends really liked it. -- rod williams | pacific bell | san francisco ----------------------------------------------------------------------- {ihnp4,ucbvax,cbosgd,decwrl,amd70,fortune,zehntel}!dual!ptsfa!ptsfc!rjw
