It's been a long time. (Ref. messages < 1000). Just thought I'd toss this one in: I used to dress for the men in my life. ALL of them abhorred makeup, fancy hairstyles, dresses, heels, etc. "Give me a REAL woman! Not Madison Ave!!" Another convert to dressing for HERSELF: I LOVE to play with light amounts of makeup; love the feel of smooth, silky skin, like the breezy feel of skirts and dresses. Also, as it turns out, I have a genetic predisposition toward a short Achilles tendon, which makes 1" - 2" heels MUCH more comfortable than flat shoes (which my SO would prefer...), so I've given up the pain of loafers and clogs for pumps and heels. I make these comments to point out that we are each subject to our own brainwashing... and it feels SOOO good when you come to terms with what's right for you.
