I feel safer walking home at night if it's not obvious to everyone around for a block that it's a woman walking home ("click, click, click, click"). A related issue is that once I'm heard by, say, someone with aggression to strangers on their mind, I can't run away fast and I can be tracked by sound ("clickclickclickclick").
