Message-ID: <7082@ucbvax.ARPA> Date: Wed, 15-May-85 13:20:28 EDT Article-I.D.: ucbvax.7082 Posted: Wed May 15 13:20:28 1985 Date-Received: Thu, 16-May-85 22:12:23 EDT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.ARPA Organization: University of California at Berkeley Lines: 15 From: Mark Weiser DEC has a new beast called an Integrated Disk Tape Controller (or maybe its Tape Disk?), which sits on the SBI and includes a UDA50 analog for talking to RA81's. It costs $18,000 but I think this includes the UDA50 cost and the tape controller cost. This gets around the previous major disadvantage of the RA81: eating a unibus, and being limited to unibus speeds. So I basically like and am thinking about ordering one on our 8600. Can anyone shed any more rumors on this new little animal? Thanks. -mark --------------------- Spoken: Mark Weiser ARPA: mark@maryland Phone: +1-301-454-7817 CSNet: mark@umcp-cs UUCP: {seismo,allegra}!umcp-cs!mark USPS: Computer Science Dept., University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742
