The "memory disk" driver is operational, with /etc/rc initializing it
properly.  nroff and ditroff will shortly be converted to use it for
their temporary files; preliminary benchmarks suggest striking speed
gains as a result.

The movement of pipes onto the memory disk will be deferred a few days,
because a slightly-improved memory-disk driver failed its first test
and this should be settled first.
