On amps: Amonst the best I have heard are (not in any particular order)-
		                     /* These amps and following preamps
		Accoustat               were compared using an Oracle/SAEC arm,
		Krell                   Purple Heart MC cartridge, Spectral
		Citation		preamp, on Accoustat two+twos biamped
					with one+ones   */

On preamps: Again the best I have heard (amonst Naim etc)-

		Spectral DMC-10
		Krell PAM-1

Both of these units are made to last a lifetime. They basically don't
have a sound (that is they add no characteristic sound). Personally
I dislike tube equipment, though the Spectral does have a tube-like
midrange. The above two preamps, in my opinion *only*, have little
competition at any price. As soon as I can afford them I intend to 
purchase the Spectral preamp and the Accoustat amp. Perfect for either
analogue or CD source.
