I've got the standard (115hp) V-6. (The only one available in 1980.) I'd like to replace the stock muffler with the new "turbo" style that comes on the later, hi-perf V-6's. Unfortunately, the usual suppliers of replacement mufflers (Walker etc.) do not list the turbo style (that's two outlets, by the way). THRUSH does make a performance muffler for it, but my last experience with THRUSH was putting Cherry Bombs on my '69 AMC Javelin. (Ah impetuous youth.) They sounded fine for the age of muscle cars, but now I'm looking for something more like an ABARTH sound. My questions then: 1. Has anyone had any recent experience with the new generation of performance mufflers, THRUSH or otherwise? 2. What do owners of the newer V-6's do when they have to replace their mufflers? (Take a second mortgage and go back to the dealer?) 3. In general, any advice.
