I thought that slightly dirty oil is suppose to be brown(ish). If you are talking about *really* dark brown, try changing the oil for starters. When your oil turns a bright green color (i.e. the color of antifreeze), then you got a problem (aka blown head gasket). If your oil consists of a whitish-brown foam, then you may also have coolant leaking into the crankcase. This could be a cracked block or a blown head gasket. Steve Rosen rosen@gypsy
