The Chapman lock is not very effective. I have heard of many people getting their car stolen and the Chapman lock is just cut right out of the car. A couple of years ago Consumers Reports rated car security systems (not just alarms) and the Chapman lock came out near the bottom of the heap. As a matter of fact the top rated "alarm" was a device that sells for less than $100 and is a passive devices. In the Big Apple everyone has Chapman locks and more cars are stolen in NY than any other place. It just goes to show you what a little advertising can do for even the biggest piece of junk !!!
