Buy "store brands". In order to keep the cost down, many of the cheaper brands cut down on sugar. In my opinion, they taste fine and I used to prefer them (see #2), though I don't try to compare them to the major brands. Also, you can save money by buying these brands. 2. Buy "natural" (drink)s. When I came to Oregon, I found a nice brand called Hansen's. They make a very good mandarin orange-lime soda, a good lemon lime, and good cola and root beer. Recently, Hansen's has been enjoying competition from "Ol' Bob Miller" and "Napa Naturals", which makes a 51% juice white grape (drink) that is just great. These are the only (drink)s I buy for consumption at home. They are more expensive, but the difference is worth it. 3. If you can get it, buy Dr. Brown's. When I have the choice, I'll always take a Dr. Brown's cream soda over the other choices. Too bad that Dr. Brown's isn't easily obtainable out here. 4. Sample everything that the store has to offer. Most places don't mind if you mix a carton (we used to do this when I was a kid). Variety is a nice treat, and you may find something you like better (like Brownie or Yoo-hoo, maybe).
